Why Keyword Research Makes Your Blog Grow Faster
If you are a new blogger my best advice after a decade is to do your keyword research.
Are you a beginner blogger looking to jumpstart your growth? If so, then learning how to do keyword research is an essential skill. When used correctly and consistently, keyword research can help you reach more people with your blog posts. In this post, we will discuss why keyword research makes your blog grow faster and how to use it effectively.
What Is Keyword Research?
At its core, keyword research is the process of finding words or phrases that people are likely to use when they search for information related to your blog topic.
For example, if you have a blog about cars then some potential keywords you might want to consider are “how to clean car headlights” or “best car battery”.
By understanding which keywords people are searching for, you can then optimize your content to make it more visible in the search engine results pages (SERPs).
The Benefits of Using Keyword Research
There are several benefits associated with using keyword research. First and foremost, it helps you create content that is more relevant and useful to readers.
People who are searching with specific keywords will be more likely to find what they’re looking for on your website if you optimize your content accordingly.
Additionally, keyword research can help you identify topics that may not have occurred to you organically but that still appeal to a wide audience.
This can open up new opportunities for growth and lead generation. You can see a screenshot of one of my best pieces of content on the blog.
It took 8 years for this to happen to me, so I want it to happen much sooner for you as a new blogger. As I’m updating older content on my blog I am finding so many posts that had no keywords ranking as I was NOT doing the keyword research. Learn from my blogging mistakes!
How To Make the Most Out of Your Research of Keywords
Once you’ve identified potential keywords or phrases through keyword research tools such as Google Adwords or KWFinder, there are a few key strategies for making the most out of them.
To start off, make sure that each piece of content has at least one primary target keyword and several related secondary keywords sprinkled throughout the text.
You can use a plugin like Yoast SEO to help you find additional keywords.
Additionally, try optimizing both the body text as well as any headings or images with relevant keywords whenever possible. Finally, create an editorial calendar that allows ample time between posts so that each piece has sufficient time in SERPs before being replaced by newer content.
Other Tools For Researching Keywords
I like using Ubersuggest. You can start with it for FREE or upgrade for more keyword research. With Ubersuggest you also get Answer The Public, another great tool to help you with your keyword research.
Of course, you can Google it and use Google trends as well.
Internal Links
Don’t forget with each new piece of content you write for your new blog that you link it back to some older blog posts that are relevant. Google calls these pages or posts that have no internal links orphaned content.
You don’t want your blog content to be an orphan. Interlinking correctly can help your internal SEO. Tools like Link Whisper, Yoast SEO, or Rank Math provide you with guidance on these internal links.
Conclusion
In conclusion, keyword research is an important part of creating an effective content that appeals to readers while also increasing visibility in SERPs and generating leads over time.
By understanding how best to use keywords and leveraging their power strategically through optimization techniques such as including relevant headings and optimizing images with targeted phrases, bloggers can unlock the true potential of their blog posts for reaching wider audiences quickly and efficiently.
However, don’t forget to take a break from blogging as you climb to the top of your blogging niche. All work and no rest or play make for a boring blogger.
With enough practice and patience, beginner bloggers can learn how best to use this powerful tool for continued growth over time.
