TikTok Ban — Will President Trump Save TikTok?

It would have been funny if you told me years ago that President Trump would save TikTok. Back in 2020, President Trump viewed the app as a national security threat.
The Peterson Institute investigated TikTok, which included risks to armed forces personnel due to the app’s ability to convey the user's location and data. The app also provides biometric data to its Chinese parent company.
The primary concern is that the Chinese government could order ByteDance to hand over the data it collects about its users.
When President Trump was banned from the old Twitter and Facebook, he began his own social media company, Truth Social.
The TikTok Ban
On January 17, 2025, the Supreme Court upheld a law effectively banning it due to concerns about its ties to China.
Around midnight on January 19, 2025, the TikTok app in the United States went dark, and young users called 911 in a panic.

What Makes TikTok Different?
I’m not on TikTok, but I’ve seen videos from the app shared on X. They appear sillier than on other social media networks, like YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels.
Carousels inside the videos are what makes TikTok unique from those other platforms.
Many experts claim TikTok is the most addicting social platform on users' devices, but if you’ve been on X lately, you’ll see many are addicted there, too.
My husband is addicted to Facebook reels. Everyone has their poison when it comes to social media networks.
President Trump and TikTok
In 2020, President Trump wanted to see TikTok go dark due to security concerns. But when he ran for office in 2024, his campaign used the platform to reach young people.
