How to Contribute to Blogs and Get Accepted as a Guest or Contributor
Do you want to have your guest posts accepted by other blogs quickly and easily?
I often get questions from people I’ve never heard of before. Mostly I do not respond to them as many do not even address me by my first name.
Really? You’ve been to my contact me or about page and you don’t know my name?
Recently I received one email sounded nice, but I still did not know the person.
The Generic Email
Hi Lisa,
I’m a big fan of the content you’re publishing, and I’d love to combine our expertise sometime by collaborating on an article for your blog. After reading through several of your pieces, I thought one of these topics would be a great fit:
· 7 Critical Steps to Avoid a Social Media Crisis
· The Real Cost of a Bad Business Reputation
· What businesses can learn from the Starbucks Crisis
I can put together a fact sheet with statistics, common pitfalls, and pro tips for you. I’d be happy to send you the info, draft an outline, or even contribute an original article — whatever you prefer. I’m sure I can provide some excellent insights for your audience.
Thanks Lisa. I love what you’re doing, and I look forward to hearing from you soon!
Kindly,
Joe
A few days later an email came:
Hello again,
I’m just following up to see what you thought about the two of us collaborating on some content for your readers. I’m sure I could offer some valuable insights to your audience, and it would be great to introduce our brand to some new faces.
May I send over one of the fact sheets I mentioned, draft an outline, or write a finished article for you to share with your readers? I’d be happy to forward my original email, or brainstorm some new ideas if you’d like.
Thanks again. I look forward to hearing from you!
I decided to respond to this one as they had my name right and seemed to take a little time with it.
My Response:
Joe,
I don’t usually collaborate or have contributor articles from folks that never comment on my posts or engage with me on social media platforms. I like to know them first. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Tips to Get Noticed by Other Bloggers
Commenting
Comment on their blogs for weeks or months. Do not leave short comments either!
Leave thoughtful provoking comments that add to the post. If you agree or disagree explain why and cite an example. Address them by name and make it memorable.
Sharing
Share other’s blog posts is another way to get a bloggers or businesses attention. If done often and with a unique headline it may get some attention from the owner.
Networking
Engage with them on the social networks. This is another crucial step to get to know other bloggers.
Then when you do send them a DM or an email they will respond.
Give It Time
Don’t try to win over others in a day. It takes time to develop relationships with others in real life and in the blogging arena.
Trying to win them over quickly is a desperate cry for attention. Do it slowly and you will reap the awards in time.
Bonus Tip: Once you do get accepted to do a guest or contributor post be sure to submit it with SEO friendliness in mind! Short sentences are a must writing on the web!
