How Can New Bloggers Make Money With Ads Everywhere?
Every time I get asked to review a new blogger’s blog, it is often filled with ads. The new bloggers have ads on the sidebar, sometimes 2 sidebars on the bottom, and some even on the top of their blogs.
If you visit more seasoned bloggers you will notice a much cleaner sidebar.
How Can Anyone Read New Blogger's Blogs Filled With Ads?
It’s hard to read a blog post with ads popping out all around them. Sometimes, on mobile, you cannot even read the blog content. It’s covered by the ads plastered all over.
There are usually not many blog posts as the blog is new. They have may have a dozen or so posts you can try to read.
How Can New Bloggers Make Money In The Beginning?
In reality, it is extremely hard to make money from blogging in the beginning. People have to get to find you, get to know you, then trust you before they will make a purchase from you.
If you are throwing ads up everywhere, many people will not return to visit the blog. They get annoyed quickly by that. People don’t like to be sold to. They want to be:
- Informed
- Delighted
- Entertained
- Feel good
What can bloggers do to gain credibility?
New Bloggers: Have A Good About You Page
Another thing I oftentimes see is there about us or about me page is not really about them. It’s about an “idea” or a “group” but you don’t know who they really are.
A picture of them would be nice, you would feel more like you knew them after seeing their picture each time you visited their new blog.
- What are their names?
- Their backgrounds?
- What services do they provide?
- What can they do for you?
Add Share Buttons With Your Username
New bloggers can add share buttons to their blog posts so when users tweet their content it shows their name and they can be recognized. Not only that but they can reply to tweets when mentioned.
This sharing develops a relationship with other bloggers and readers of their content. It’s how they can get to know others and have their blog read by others.
Many times when I visit a new blogger's blog and try to share a tweet it does not have their username, it may have been via @sharethis, etc. That’s a huge opportunity lost on Twitter especially.
You could even gain new Twitter followers with your username being shared on your blog posts.
Start With A Self Hosted Blog
This was my biggest mistake. Over a decade ago I started with a free blogger site and then with a free WordPress site. It was a lot of work to convert to a self-hosted site.
I lost some of the earlier posts and many of my readers when I converted. I then used a third-party reseller for hosting. Another big mistake you can learn from.
You get what you pay for with hosting — it’s true. You will want a company with 24/7 tech support to help you when you need it.

What’s The Key To A New Blogger's Success?
In one word: Traffic. Not just traffic, but real organic traffic. That’s where the money is.
People are searching for answers and your blog answers them. It’s that simple but yet, takes a lot of time and hard work for new bloggers to make money.
It does not happen overnight or in 3 days as some advertise. The more time you put in, the less time to get there but it’s a lot of time.
Plastering ads all over your blog won’t generate a dime if you don’t have traffic from people who know and trust you.
