Grok AI: How To Stop It From Using Your Data from X Twitter
If you don’t check your X account’s privacy settings often, you may not even know they are using your content to train their Grok AI. Wait, what you didn’t know that?
Neither did I until I went on an X Twitter chat today. I quickly checked out my settings and found where I could opt out.
So I will show you how you can as well. But first what is Grok AI to begin with?
Grok Definition:
Grok AI is a chatbot. It’s like a conversation with questions and answers along with a writing tool developed by Elon Musk for X Twitter.
It can answer questions and help you to write content for you to post on X or elsewhere. (Similar to Chat GPT and other AI tools.)
Grok gathers information from posts on the X social media platform.
You can Grok anything and go between a “fun” mode or a “regular” mode as you can see below. Grok it may become the new Google it.
How To Opt Out of Grok AI
So you can opt out of Grok Ai using your data for their AI tool.
All you have to do is go to your X Twitter settings and privacy. Scroll down to data sharing and personalization.
Then you have to scroll to the bottom to find Grok, and unsubscribe to it.
That’s it. You are out! They cannot use your content to train their AI.
Why Do They Need Our Information?
Not only is X doing this but the big Meta platforms Facebook and Instagram are doing it as well.
However, with Facebook and Instagram, they only allow those from European Union to opt out.
Afterall, these platforms are free for us to use. So they have to gather our information to make money off the platforms to keep us engaged on them.
Advertisements are only one stream of income for the big social media platforms and when the economy turns down the ad dollars also may take a turn.
Who Can Use Grok On X Twitter?
Grok AI is for the subscribers of X to use. If you are a free user on the platform you can NOT use their AI tool. I have to experiment with it more to test it out.
It began in the month of December in the year of 2023. So it’s only been around less than one year. Time will tell how it will stack up against the other AI tools.
I’d love to hear from you if you knew your data on X was being used for their AI platform, or if you opted out.
Furthermore, I’d love to hear from those who have tried their AI tools to learn more how good they may be.
