Does Anyone In The World Watch News Anymore?

Growing up my parents always watched the nightly news after the local news. That was after reading 2 newspapers in the morning.

Even at my grandparents house I remember the world news being on with Walter Cronkite.

It was how my grandfather knew how his stocks were doing or his gold back in the day when gold bars were a thing. (It was a 2 minute business section of the 30 minute news broadcast.)

Fast forward to today and people can get instant breaking news right on their mobile devices. My grandfather would have loved having CNBC or Fox Business news on his mobile device.

Or, he would be watching his TV 24/7 with their news channels on 24/7 schedules.

But with everything at our fingertips now, do people watch news today?

Less News Being Watched

I can’ tell you how often I’ve asked someone about world events or candidates for president and the person had no idea about it, or who Vivek Ramaswamy was.

I began to wonder, was news watching becoming a thing of the past?

According to Pew research this has shown a decline in people watching news on TV or online. The decline began back in 2016.
