Choosing Your Perfect Social Media Platform
One of the most frequently asked questions I receive is: What is the right social media network for my blog or business?
It’s not always easy to answer unless I ask many questions before responding. That’s why I recreated a social media calculator for my website so people can answer questions and get a response quickly.
Popular Social Networks For Younger Generations
The more popular sites for younger generations are TikTok, Snapchat, X (Formerly Twitter) and Instagram. Do you see the pattern there?
They love videos and images. YouTube is widespread across all age groups and is the 2nd biggest search engine after Google’s search engine.
X is investing more in video content on their social platform, and some say the old popular Vine video may return to X. Time will tell.
Another emerging popular video social site is Rumble, which recently acquired funding to ramp up:
“They entered into a definitive agreement for a strategic investment of $775 million from Tether ($USDT) (“Tether”), the largest company in the digital assets industry and the most widely used dollar stablecoin across the world with more than 350 million users.”
I’m sure we’ll hear more about Rumble in the coming months, as it has created a creator program for users to earn money.
Older Audiences Love Facebook
Yes, the older demographic loves Facebook and is uncomfortable with changing to another social media platform.
However, managing Facebook pages and ads is becoming more challenging as they have become complex for many people.
Others hire people or agencies to manage their business's Facebook pages and ads. These people and agencies can be certified by Facebook by taking meta-offer courses.
Social Media Platforms That Cross Generations
YouTube and LinkedIn have most generations on their networks for learning new things, obtaining new jobs, or freelance work.
Pinterest also has a varying demographic, primarily females in all age groups who go to find recipes and home decorating ideas.
It’s the one social platform where links are welcomed. Many of the others dislike links on posts today as they take users away from their network and redirect them to your blog or website.
The Future of Social Media
What will the future hold for social media? Numerous new platforms like BlueSky, Be Real, and Lemon 8 have come out, and other old alternatives remain active today, such as Threads, Truth Social, Minds, and Gab, to mention a few.
It will be interesting to see which networks will survive and which may not in time.
Of course, will users remain on social media, or will they flee to closed groups and networks? The biggest question, of course, is whether TikTok will be saved or die in April.
What do you think is the future of social media, and which is your favorite platform?
