It’s been over 10 years since I began blogging at Inspire to Thrive. Since then, it has become a business and an inspiration for me.

In that time, I have learned a lot about how to blog successfully and make it pay off for my business.

I want to share some of the lessons I have learned with you so that you can use them to your advantage in your own blogging journey.

Consistency Is Key To Blogging Successfully

One of the most important lessons I’ve learned over time is that consistency is key when it comes to blogging.

This means posting regularly, every week or month depending on your schedule so that people know what they can expect from you.

Not only that but it will also help build an audience who will come back time and time again. They return consistently because they know exactly when new content will be available.

Make Your Content Unique And Interesting

Another important lesson I have learned is the importance of making sure my content is unique and interesting. If your readers aren’t interested in what you have to say, they won’t come back for more.

So make sure you invest time into creating content that is both well-written and informative. Also, try to find ways to make each article stand out from other articles on similar topics so that people are drawn to your work rather than someone else’s.

This can be done through visuals, video, or even by simply adding a personal touch or opinion on the topic at hand.

Creating unique content will set you apart from other bloggers.

Interact With Your Audience

Engaging with your audience is one of the most important aspects of blogging — and it’s not just about responding when someone comments on one of your posts or tweets you a question; it’s also about actively seeking out conversations with other bloggers in your niche so you can connect with them on a deeper level.

You can create relationships beyond just one-off comments or likes here or there.

Furthermore, you should also make sure you’re regularly checking out what others are saying about topics related to yours so that you can join in on conversations happening elsewhere too.

You Cannot Blog Successful Alone

This tidbit I learned early on as I began to learn from other pro bloggers like Ryan Biddulph, Neil Patel, Ann Smarty, Gail Gardner, Neal Schaffer, and Donna Merrill, to name a few along the way a decade ago.

These pro bloggers taught me a lot in the first few years I blogged away at Inspire To Thrive. I could not have continued without bloggers like them and many others that I learned from over the years.

We like to “pick up” new bloggers and help them on their journeys as we remember what it was like in the earlier struggles of blogging away.

Invest Time In Quality Content

When it comes to blogging, quality content is king. It’s important to write content that is well-researched, compelling, and informative. Yes, you can use AI tools today to help you but be sure to check the research and stats.

Not only get the latest facts and stats but add your personal research and experiences as well.

Take time to create blog content that your readers will actually want to read and engage with.

Creating content that is valuable to your readers will help build trust with them, which can then lead to long-term relationships and loyalty.

Learn SEO For Successful Blogging

For any blog to be successful, optimizing your posts by incorporating relevant keywords is essential. Researching the right phrases and terms will help your content gain visibility on various search engines.

It is something I’ve personally experienced first-hand when trying to compete with other seasoned bloggers. Invest time upfront in learning about SEO strategies so that you don’t have to break the bank hiring services later down the road.

However, if you don’t have the time to do your own SEO, you may consider outsourcing your SEO.

The List — Great Blogging Advice You May Have Heard

Yes, start developing an email list when you first blog. You have probably heard this over and over. Again, it was something I did not do in the beginning. If you start out treating your blog like a business, it has a better success rate of becoming one.

I’ve changed what I offered for it over the years but continue to slowly grow my email list.*

It’s a great way to connect with your readers when you can send them updates, ask them questions, and send them special offers from time to time.

Email marketing is alive and well today.

Find New Readers For Successful Blogging

After you’ve been blogging for years you will realize many of your readers will disappear and you must continually generate new ones.

How do you find new readers for your blog?

  • Join Twitter chats.
  • Participate in forums.
  • Comment on other blogs.
  • Join other blogging communities like BizSugar, Blog Engage, Quora, Facebook groups, etc.
  • Guest blog on other blogs to be in front of new audiences.

Steady And Slow For Blogging Success

Stay at it slow and steady, and do not give up early as so many bloggers have over the years. You will get down, your blog traffic will dip. Most things that go up, go down.

Learn to live with the ups and down and stay steady in your blogging journey.

You’ll be glad you did as I can’t imagine not blogging away at Inspire To Thrive in the next decade.
